Duke of Edinburgh Award
The Duke of Edinburgh Award is a fun adventure and major challenge, three progressive Award levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold) and a wide range of activities offer endless possibilities to anyone aged 14 to 24. Millions of young people in the UK have already taken part in the world’s leading youth achievement award – pushing personal boundaries, gaining new skills and enhancing their CVs and university applications.
At BSCS we offer the following levels:
- Bronze (in Year 9)
- Silver (In Year 10)
- Gold (In Year 12)
…which lead to a Duke of Edinburgh's Award. An award which is recognised by university, colleges and employers nationally.
You achieve an Award by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections:
- Volunteering: helping people or the community
- Physical: improving in an area of sport, dance or fitness
- Skills: developing practical and social skills and personal interests
- Expedition: planning, training for and completing an adventurous journey
For the first 3 sections you can choose from a massive range of activities which give you an amazing opportunity to learn some new skills and have fun!
At BSCS we have regular training sessions for those that complete the award and students can track their sections on eDofE.org. We then complete a practice and qualifying expedition, during which students plan their own routes, meals and aims for their trip.
