I am incredibly honoured to be the Head of Primary at BSCS. We are a friendly, multi-cultural one-form-entry phase where every child is known by name, valued and encouraged to be the best they can be.
Visitors to our school comment on the calm, friendly and nurturing atmosphere in the Primary Phase. We are a community-centred school and forming strong, positive relationships are at the heart of all we do; we put a great deal of time and effort getting to know all children and families. We are passionate about ensuring equity and inclusion for all children and we celebrate our diversity throughout the year.
The Primary phase prides itself on having an 'Ethic of Excellence'. We set ourselves high standards and our passionate and dedicated members of staff support and inspire our young people to develop into confident and articulate learners who strive to be the best they can be.
The skills of phonics and reading are prioritised and our 'Reading Village' is the hub of the Primary Phase with a wide range of books, laptops and iPads that children can use to expand their knowledge. We teach thematically through engaging and interesting 'Curious Curriculum lessons' and parents are regularly invited into school to see the high-quality learning produced and celebrate the achievements of our learners. Our dedicated staff team have created purposeful and inspiring learning environments and visits are always welcome.
