Important Exam Information

For the first time a contingency day has been arranged for “GCSE and/or GCE examinations, should sustained national or local disruption arise during the June 2019 examination series”.

The decision comes following the tragic events of last summer, namely the Manchester attacks and the Grenfell Tower fire. The Joint Council for Qualifications have decided that they need the option to postpone an exam in the event of an incident and re-arrange for a later date to allow all students an equal and fair chance.

In 2019 the contingency day is Wednesday 26 June 2019. This means that all exam candidates must be available to sit exams from the start of the exams in May until Wednesday 26 June 2019. This is not a school decision and does apply to all candidates in all schools, sitting any exam board. This day will be added to all student timetables.

Monday 1 July - Y11 Leavers Assembly  9 - 11am

Wednesday 3 July - Y11 into Post 16 Taster Day

Thursday 4 July - Y11 Prom

5 July 2019 - BTEC deadline

As in previous years, Year 11 students will be expected to attend lessons in subjects until they have completed all their exams or coursework for that particular subject.  They will, however, no longer be expected to attend morning registration and core PE from Monday 3rd June, and may leave the school site during the school day.  Signing in and out books will be present in reception for students to sign in and out of the building.  It is essential that students do this for obvious safety reasons.  A study room will also be available to students during the school day for quiet study.  Please note that the usual rules apply regarding school uniform, mobile phones and behaviour.

There will be a final assembly on Monday 1st July 9.00 – 11.00 am where students will present their tutor video and staff will give their reflections on the year group.  This will be followed by a chance for ‘shirt signing’ (students therefore need to wear school uniform) and prom tickets to be issued.  Students will be expected to have returned all their outstanding books and resources to reception by that date and paid outstanding amounts due.

If you would like further information or have any concerns at all please do contact either Mrs Barker, Miss Rogers, Mrs Cordukes or Mr Lynch or one of your child’s subject teachers.

Y11 Prom Timings Info - Thursday 4th July

The year 11 prom is fast approaching, here are the final arrangements and reminders.

Students who have paid for the coach to Tortworth court need to arrive at school at 6.15pm as the coach will be leaving school at 6.30pm prompt. If students are making their own way there they can arrive from 6.30pm at Tortworth Court.  Parents/carers are welcome to attend and take photos of students arriving from 6.30pm.

The prom finishes at midnight, the coach will be leaving Tortworth court at 12.15am and will return to school for approximately 12.45.  Please ensure that you have made arrangements with your son/daughter to either be picked up from school or if you are happy for them to make their own way home that is fine.
